Miracle Healing in Christianity

Christianity is the world’s largest religion. It has a following of 2.38 billion people. The religion is based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

In the beginning, Christianity was a persecuted religion. People left everything behind to follow Christ. During the fifth century, some serious Christians fled urban corruption. These people were called Third Wavers. They trusted God to heal through prayer and medicine.

One of the major achievements of the early Christian Church was the spread of the gospel. In the fourth century, the church grew exponentially. Many of the evangelists preached the gospel in large services.

Miracles were a hallmark of the early Church. Apostles had the power to perform healings. However, no apostle ever performed a miracle that came close to feeding 5,000 hungry people.

A more common miracle was to free a person from a demon. This was a feat that was attributed to Jesus and his apostles.

But there is no direct record of when the miraculous was the most popular practice in the Christian church. In the Middle Ages, most Christians expected miracles to be rare.

Although there were some notable miracles, the church leaders only allowed the healing of the sick. To show their piety, they restricted exorcising of demons.

Another miracle was the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This brought about the “second blessing”: a freedom from the pollution of sin.

Although there were many miracles in the Bible, there were fewer miracles in the New Testament. Unlike the ancients, the Christian Church has not recorded when the miracle of healings stopped.
