Evangelism, Conversion and Perseverance in Faith
Evangelism, Conversion and Perseverance in Faith
Evangelism is at the heart of Christian belief. It is a way to make a positive impact on the world and win souls for Christ. Charismatic Christians focus on evangelism, conversion and perseverance in faith among the saved. They understand that their church is engaged in an epic end-times conflict with demonic powers. Satan is real and he holds power over entire nations. The demonic forces are actively seeking to undermine evangelization.
Jesus commanded his disciples to preach the gospel of the kingdom. It was not enough to preach that the kingdom was near; they had to show people how to respond. The disciples were told to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cleanse lepers. They were also told to cast out demons. In short, Jesus wanted to show them that they must obey his commandments, even to the point of telling the nations. But this is not easy. Personal discipleship is difficult. It takes time, wisdom and consecration. Afterwards, personal discipleship will lead to sharing the gospel with the world.
Wagner and Wimber both pushed the charismatic movement, which later became known as the Vineyard Movement. They borrowed freely from the Pentecostal tradition, but refused to be labeled Pentecostals. They promoted an approach centered on deep cultural knowledge of unreached peoples, which helped missionaries become more effective. Those who participated in this movement are primarily evangelical. They are the front figures of the territorial spiritual warfare movement.
