Time To Rest!
Some of Jesus’ words offer a wonderful invitation; words such as, ‘Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest’ (Matthew 11:28). Who else ever said words like these? Today, many people are troubled, anxious, guilty and afraid. Many take drugs, alcohol, try Yoga and meditation, religious services, say prayers, and try a heap of things, all in an effort to ease their heavy loads. But what sort of burdens is Jesus talking about when he says, ‘I’ll give you rest’?

Fearing The Lord Is A Christian’s First Commandment – You Maybe Thought It Was Loving The Lord?According to the Bible, the expression ‘fear the Lord’ and ‘love the Lord’ are essentially the same in terms of our relationship to God. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus said to the Pharisees when asked what was the great commandment, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Moses, nearly 2000 years earlier said in Deuteronomy 12:12 “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” It seems that the word ‘fear’ in Deuteronomy has either been misinterpreted or at least, misunderstood. But, Jesus and Moses both said the same thing and both meant the same thing.
Is Kissing a Sin?Most Christians have had to answer this question sincerely to ourselves in one situation or another. And the various responses obtained clearly brings out the fact that kissing being a ‘sin’ in entirety totally varies from person to person, regardless of the position being held in the faith. But these divergent views, do they actually have any biblical backing whatsoever in relation to the Christians who assume it not being a sin? And if it is, to what extent does this act constitute a sin?
The Truth of Genesis: The Evil and Ignorance of Gentile Christianity – Part 4 of 7On Saturday, the 24th of April, 28 AD, in the mid-morning, Jesus makes His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, riding on a young donkey. However, the temple priests and the people were lined up expecting to shout “Hosanna” for the High Priest returning from Bethlehem with the chosen lamb. Jesus was “stealing the High Priest’s thunder”. This ceremony was a yearly rehearsal for the coming of the Messiah, and Yeshua fulfilled it. It was the 10th day of Aviv (Nisan). The temple priests wanted Jesus to tell His disciples to “shut up” and wait for the High Priest to make his entry. This is when Jesus replied “I tell you this, if these people should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out”!!
The Bible Says “Fear The Lord!” So What’s That All About? I Thought Jesus Loved MeThe fear of the Lord God, Jehovah and the other names for Him, quite often results in an unrealistic fright of Him. Though there are occasions in both the Old Testament and New Testament where it talks of the wrath of God and that unbelievers should indeed be fearful of this at the end-times, the preponderance of references to the ‘fear of the Lord’ or ‘fear the Lord’ refers to being in reverent awe of Him and His glory and His majesty. This article touches on ways to start looking at this fear and what it means for us in the modern world.
Six Truths About Spiritual Gifts – They Are Given By God For His Glory AloneSpiritual Gifts are a contentious issue to say the least in Christendom today. The Bible is very clear however, about what they are, to whom they are given and what they are to be used for. In spite of wide divisions in many churches and denominations about the present-day use of certain charismatic gifts, there can be found nowhere in the Bible anything that says God’s gifts to His church somehow ended when the last Apostle died. Spiritual Gifts are indeed precious gifts given by God for His glory and His glory alone.
