Miracle Healing in Christianity
Miracle Healing in Christianity
Christianity is a religion of Abrahamic origins that is based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. It is the largest religion in the world. Christianity has 2.38 billion followers, and represents one-third of the world’s population. The church is a continuation of Christ’s ministry in the world, and has the potential to raise the dead.
In the first 1000 years of the Church, non-stop confrontations with demons were commonplace. There was a time when believers actually spoke in tongues. However, the most impressive miracles were not the ones done by apostles.
One of the more interesting claims of the day was the ability of Christians to heal the sick through prayer. The miracle was probably a bit more mundane than it sounds.
There are numerous miracles recorded in the Bible, but only a few are recorded in the book of Acts. This doctrinal tome has few direct mandates for the Church.
Although there is an abundance of religious and medical work attributed to the apostles, it is impossible to know how many of these were genuine and how many were man-made. A study of the First century church found that some were used to advance the cause of Christ.
The Bible is hardly a science book, but it is interesting to note that many of the most interesting miracles occurred in the presence of Jesus himself. Even the most mundane of tasks was a feat of the Holy Spirit.
