The History of Christianity

Christianity is a religion based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. It is one of the world’s largest religions, with an estimated 2.38 billion followers worldwide.

The gospel of good news contains assurance for the afterlife, but it also meets the practical needs of human beings. God wants his children to live abundantly and healthily. He gives them ways to succeed in all areas of their lives.

Christianity began as a persecuted religion. Missionaries fanned out from coast to coast. Some people left everything to follow Christ. However, it was often a risky decision. There was a penalty for conversion, including imprisonment and death.

One of the most outstanding miracles was the day of Pentecost when Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit. The gift of the Holy Spirit was divine equipment as the world Savior.

The gifts of the Spirit include healings and miracles. They are described in 1 Corinthians 12. The believer-priest exercises spiritual authority over the devil. But the believer-priest cannot pronounce absolution for sins that have occurred in the past.

The church is a continuation of Christ’s ministry on earth. Jesus’ disciples lived and preached his teachings. Mark’s Gospel speaks of them preaching in public places, and of signs of confirmation.

Healing is an important part of Jesus’ ministry. He healed sick people in first century Galilee. In addition, he was anointed with the Holy Spirit.

Today, believers are challenged by both moral character and God’s power. Christians are used by God to demonstrate the way of faith.
