Miracle Healing in Christianity

Christianity is one of the world’s largest religions, with over 2.38 billion followers worldwide. It is based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth and is Abrahamic in nature.

The apostles were given authority to cast out unclean spirits and heal the sick. However, the gift was never intended to be used to keep Christians healthy. Instead, it was meant to show others that Christ had power over demons.

In the first 1000 years of the church, the church faced constant confrontation with demons. This opened people to their need for Jesus and their helplessness without him. Eventually, the church was built upon these encounters.

When believers began to speak in tongues, God gave them a spiritual weapon against Satan. However, Paul warned against chasing away demons. As a result, many of these encounters were not recorded.

Another reason healings were not recorded in the Bible is that they were viewed as something foreign to the Scripture. It was believed that people could only claim this gift if they had a supernatural ability. Often, it involved the use of potions, incantations, or formulas.

There were also those who claimed to have a special gift of healing. However, these people were caught using chicanery.

It is interesting to note that there was a time when Christians did not even believe in the healing power of God. They were afraid of the Lord. Nevertheless, they believed that if they could pray and have faith, God would do what He wanted.
