The Basic Beliefs of Christianity
The basic belief in Christianity is that God created a human being with both a soul and a body. This understanding is expressed throughout the Bible, and Jesus came to earth to save both. His mission was to heal the sick and raise the dead. This mission is carried out through the Church, the body of Jesus. In fact, twenty to eleven percent of the gospel accounts of Jesus’ public ministry are devoted to reporting healings and exorcisms.
Christians also believe in the power of prayer and anointing the sick with oil. This tradition is based on James’ statement that a faith-filled prayer from a priest would heal the sick person. The word’sozo’ means physical restoration and can also mean salvation and bodily resurrection.
Jesus gave the apostles authority to cast out demons, heal the sick, and raise the dead. These powers were given to the apostles to indicate that they were messengers of God. As such, Christians must be able to distinguish between real and fake prophets. To do this, Christians should seek approval from church leaders.
It is important to remember that God is not a creature of habit and does not always do the same things the same way. In fact, God is always doing something new. Revelation is a prime example of this. It teaches Christians that one day, Heaven will come to earth and we will be able to worship Him as we do in Heaven.
