Miracle Healing in the Sacraments
Miracle Healing in the Sacraments
The sacraments are particularly effective healing means. According to the Catechism, Jesus touched the sick during his ministry, and his healing powers are present in the sacraments. These include the Eucharist, which is the bread that gives eternal life. It is through the sacraments that Christ is made present in a special way. Here are some examples of the healing power of the sacraments.
Jesus demonstrated a genuine love for people who were held captive by satanic forces and made great efforts to free them. Today’s churches are expected to fulfill this same deliverance ministry. Hence, the church’s mission should be holistic, and it must be in keeping with the apostolic ministry. We are called to make a difference in the world. We must be ready to accept others as they are and share their faith and hope.
The apostles were sent out two by two, with authority to cure people of their sins and curses. They were commissioned to preach repentance and tell people to turn to Jesus for forgiveness. They were told not to carry any food or money in their belts, and to wear sandals. They were instructed to shake off dust when leaving places unfriendly to Christianity. They were also commissioned to proclaim that everyone should repent, and should be transformed into a new person.
The apostles followed Jesus’ instructions and gathered at the city of Lydda to encourage the followers. While they were in the city, they saw a paralyzed man. He had been bedridden for eight years. Peter told him to rise, and he did. This event moved the entire town to embrace Christianity, and everyone in the city turned to the Lord. And this was the first example of the power of a new religion.
