The Christian Religion and Miracles

The Christian religion is a system of beliefs and practices that affirm the power of the Holy Spirit to heal and cast out demons. Jesus gave his disciples the authority to cast out demons and heal the sick. He also declared that anything they asked for would be done in His name. This power was limited before his crucifixion, but would become fully operative when the Holy Ghost came to the world on the day of Pentecost.

The apostles were called to go to all the world to preach the gospel and spread the word of God. In the beginning, men did not accept Jesus’ claims and were suspicious. Some believed that he was a fraud, while others believed that he had actually performed miracles. But they were not convinced until he ate a meal with them.

In the Bible, Jesus and the Apostles performed miracles. Paul frequently healed people who were sick. In fact, his ministry was characterized by miraculous healing. People believed that walking in faith would keep them from being sick. The apostle Trophimus, for example, was healed when he was a cripple.

The devil had been cast out of Christ through the work of the believer-priest. As a result of his spiritual authority, the believer-priest can cast out devils. He can also heal the sick and perform Christ-ministry. However, the believer-priest cannot destroy sin consciousness, nor can he pronounce absolution for sins committed in the past.
