Miracles of Christianity

Christianity is a religion based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. It is one of the largest religions in the world with over 2.38 billion followers. Currently, it represents about one-third of the global population.

The Bible contains many clusters of miracles. These can include healing, prophecy, and discerning of spirits. They may occur in a hospital, church, or private home. Miracles are parabolic and often have an eschatological context.

During the apostolic era, Christians performed exorcisms. They also prayed for people’s healing. But, in the Middle Ages, many Christians believed that prayer for healing was a superstition. Church leaders discouraged people from seeking prayer for healing. Instead, they sent people to shrines of martyrs.

Several texts in the New Testament give instructions on how to perform exorcisms. There are also references to healing in the Bible.

In addition to healing, the Holy Spirit is given to believers to bring them freedom from the power of sin. A Christian who is filled with the Holy Spirit has greater faith, wisdom, and righteousness. Some examples of the gifts are listed in 1 Corinthians 12 and 13.

Miracles may or may not happen when a person converts to Christianity. It depends on the person and the circumstances. However, the majority of new converts join the church after healings.

Healings are recorded in the book of Acts. In the book of Matthew, Jesus blesses the apostles with healing powers. He healed blind men, lepers, and others. Eventually, the anointing of the sick with oil became a sacrament.
