Miracle Healing in the Christian Religion
The sacraments in the Christian religion are particularly powerful healing instruments. According to the Catechism, Jesus touched the sick throughout his ministry and this healing power is maintained through the sacraments. The Eucharist, the bread that gives eternal life, is an example of the healing power of the sacraments. During Mass, the body of Jesus is present and the healing power is especially evident.
The charisms are a gift from the Holy Spirit, freely bestowed by the Holy Spirit. It is not a reward for virtue or holiness, but rather a way to involve people in building up the body of Christ. People who have a passion for God are more likely to be God’s instrument. The teaching on charisms is found in the book of 1 Corinthians. Charisms are special gifts from God to be used for the good of others.
A Christian who prays in a violent way may be a spiritual warrior. This type of prayer is called’machine-gun prayer’, and it involves a powerful physical manifestation of the Holy Spirit, which causes apostles to speak in “other tongues” and cause crowds from every nation under heaven to gather. Those who pray in such a way may actually die from the effects of the prayer. It is important to remember that spiritual warriors do exist.
The charismatic third wave of evangelicalism developed by C. Peter Wagner and John Wimber, and was tested during the controversial Fuller’s School of Missions course. The Vineyard Movement was an extension of these ideologies and grew out of them. By the time it became mainstream, the charismatic Third Wave of the Christian Church had become widespread, crossing denominational divisions and religious boundaries. And it is not only charismatic leaders who are at the forefront of this movement.
