The teachings of Christianity believe that a human being is composed of body and soul, and that Jesus came to save human beings from sin. He did this by saving souls and raising them up. As such, it is not surprising that a majority of the gospels contain reports of healings and exorcisms.

Jesus acknowledges that miracles are not always a direct result of his ministry, and he acknowledges that the Holy Spirit is at work in the world in ways that we cannot comprehend. In fact, he even endorses a man who casts out demons who was not a follower of his ministry.

Christians should understand the difference between a false prophet and a true one, based on the inward testimony of the Spirit. The New Testament talks about prophecy in different ways, and prophecy should always be vetted by church leaders. While prophecies are important in the Christian faith, it is important to remember that they were given limited power and scope.

Discipleship in Christianity entails a commitment to the teachings of the Bible. To live as a disciple of Christ, one must be willing to spend the time and effort necessary to grow in wisdom and obedience. This commitment will enable a person to teach others to follow Jesus. It also prepares them to preach the gospel to the nations.
