Giants Do Come DownWhat is a giant? A giant is anything that has a stronghold on your life. What is a stronghold? Something you are in prison to, anything that has a stronger hold on you than God. In the book of I Samuel the Philistines had a giant in their army whose name was Goliath. This giant was a mighty warrior in the Philistines army and he came against the children of Israel. David went up and fought against Goliath and he defeated him. How was the giant Goliath defeated? He was defeated not using man’s armor but through faith in God. David believed God, he trusted God. He did not stand around patting his feet saying God will defeat the giant. He did something, he fought. The scripture says, faith without works is dead. When David came against Goliath he took off the armor of man, he took off Saul’s armor and he put on the armor of God. He took off the natural and put on the spiritual.
I Have Fought a Good FightI have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Paul said I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course: I have kept the faith. Paul said he fought a good fight. How did he fight? What weapons did he use? He fought using spiritual weapons. You cannot use natural weapons in this fight. This faith is a part of our armor; we use it to defend ourselves. When you lose faith, you lose the fight.
We Must Ask Ourselves, Am I My Brother’s Keeper? Why did Cain kill his brother? Because his deeds were evil, not because of something Abel had done but because he assumed Abel had done something. He assumed his brother was the cause of his so called grief from the Lord. I John 3:12 “Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.” Oftentimes this is our response, we get angry at other people because God is blessing them and accepting them instead of looking at ourselves to see what might be the reason for God not accepting our sacrifices.
Are You Simple Minded? This proverb was written by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. It is about a young man who refused to listen to the instructions of his father. In this proverb Solomon tells the son to listen to the words of the father, but in actuality he is not talking about a natural father. He is actually talking about God our spiritual father who is talking to the church. He is telling us to listen and keep his commandments and live.
Come Back HomeThis parable is about the prodigal son. He wasted his substance with riotous living. He took everything his father (God) had given him, his inheritance and used it for his own pleasure. He said give me my inheritance. After the son received his inheritance, he left. He left his father’s house, where protection and safety were and took his inheritance with him. He thought he could handle things himself without the help of his father. He was saying “I am rich and increased with goods and I have need of nothing” Revelation 3:17.
Persecution According to the BiblePersecution is honestly too strong a term when it comes to Christians being mocked, mistreated, or discriminated against for their beliefs in America. What Christians “suffer” in America for expressing their faith is very mild compared to what the early apostles suffered and what many Christians today endure in other countries who do not have religious freedom.
God Holds the Christian Church AccountableAccording to the scriptures true Christianity is one of Discipleship. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, ‘If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me’. ‘Fore whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it’ (Matt 16:24, 25).
Show ItIf you have experienced a life changing moment in your life, you need to show it. The Believer today is to be a living, loving, expressing letter that is to be read by the dying, hating, depressing world.
It’s More ThanIt is more than reading the Word. What it all comes down to is that we must live the Word.
Are You Serving or Storing Up For Yourself? When was the last time you took the time to pour your wealth of knowledge into someone else’s spirit? Feasting on the Word of God or your higher education and becoming overweight to the degree of gluttony is unacceptable with being a child of God. Are you actively serving in some capacity of ministry?
When We Agree With GodIndeed, you and I face many giants. Mental, physical, financial, and psychological giants with weapons that could destroy us in an instant. We do not deny that. Yet, what we affirm with great power and authority is that: “If God be for us who can be against us?” “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” “If God spared not His own Son how shall He not give us freely all things?”
