Miracles in Christianity
Christianity is a religious movement that originated from the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Its followers number over 2.38 billion worldwide, making it one of the largest religions in the world.
The Bible speaks of miracles in the Old Testament, including healing the sick. In fact, the word “miracle” is used to describe the actions of Jesus in healing the blind, raising the dead and more. He also commissioned the Twelve apostles. These evangelists had unique apostolic gifts.
During the first 1000 years of church history, demons ruled the day. This was an exciting time for many Christians. Many people claimed to have miraculous powers. Some of them were caught using chicanery.
However, a true miracle is not something that happens by chance. There is a reason why the Bible mentions the miracle of speaking in tongues.
The book of Acts contains only a few direct mandates for the church. In the end, it is a historical record of the early Christian community.
Those who claim to have special powers are usually just praying and believing. Although the Bible says that God can heal us, it is not a prerequisite to become a believer.
While the book of Acts does contain the most impressive miracle, there are other more practical and relevant miracles that are afoot. One example is the tidbit mentioned in the Bible about how an invisible force brought a man to a stop.
Another is the power of the Holy Spirit. As Christians are baptized, the Holy Spirit comes into their lives. Using this new power, they can live victorious lives in all areas of their lives.
