The History of Christianity
The History of Christianity
Approximately one third of the world’s population practices Christianity. It is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion that traces its roots to the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus came to earth to save human beings. His “anointing” with the Spirit enabled him to bring a message of freedom and liberation.
The church is the continuation of Jesus’ ministry on earth. It was founded by the apostles after Christi’s resurrection. Jesus gave his apostles authority to cast out unclean spirits and to heal diseases. He commissioned them to go into all the world.
The apostles recorded many healing miracles in the New Testament. Jesus was the miracle worker of the ages. Jesus’ healing miracles testify to His compassion for those in distress. His love gushed forth like an electric billow.
Jesus commissioned twelve apostles. These apostles traveled the world preaching the gospel. They performed miracles, raised the dead, exorcised demons and healed diseases. They were marvelous men of God.
Jesus’ ministry was a fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy. He was dedicated to revealing God. He was a fundamentalist. He didn’t want to heal the Roman soldier’s servant, but love compelled Him.
The apostles recorded healing miracles in the book of Acts. A sacrament of anointing of the sick is a continuation of Jesus’ ministry in the world.
The apostles also recorded their ministry of healing in the book of Matthew. A Roman soldier’s servant was instantly healed by Jesus. He commissioned the apostles to heal and to proclaim the gospel.
