Miracle Healing and Christian Faith
Miracle Healing and Christian Faith
The Christian faith is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that the human being is composed of a soul and a body. According to the Bible, Christ came to save and raise both. Physical healing and exorcisms are common occurrences during Jesus’ public ministry. Yet, today, vast numbers of baptized Christians no longer practice the faith.
However, these occurrences are often interpreted as the supernatural. The teachings of Jesus, including his command to drive out demons, have long confounded liberals. The Jesus of the gospels, for example, begins with the healing of a man possessed by an evil spirit. Moreover, the gospel writers intended that the public understand the existence of demons and how to deal with them.
The Bible has many examples of miraculous healing. Some Christians believe that walking in faith can prevent sickness. They attribute the healings to God’s power. Some believers believe that these miracles prove that Jesus is God. However, others feel that they distract from the power of the teachings of Jesus. It is important to keep in mind that miracles in the Bible are often related to the teachings of Jesus.
In the Bible, charisms are gifts given by the Holy Spirit to Christians. They are not a reward for virtue or holiness, but are gifts to be used by God in building the body of Christ. These gifts are more likely to come to those who are passionate about God and his message.
