What Are You Doing With What God Gave You?

The Safe Room

Storms cause us to realize the value of a safe room. Having one available when we really need it can save our lives.

Climate Change: The Role of Religion

The United Church of Christ has recently adopted a strong statement encouraging environmental stewardship that is critical of fossil fuel companies. Though most mainstream denominations and religions have adopted similar statements, Dr.Stephen Carter criticizes their statement and hints that they are being hypocritical as they use fossil fuels. He claims that they are ignoring the law of supply and demand, but his argument falls short as it omits a number of facts that he should know.

Does the Bible Have Authority Over Our Lives?

Does God have the right to tell us what to do? Today’s culture says “no”, there are no absolutes. The common belief is that each person has their own reality and therefore should live by their own code. The Bible says God has the authority. This article takes the position only one of these is correct, and why.

The Power of Temptation

We all know that self-preservation is one of the most fundamental concerns of humans and resisting temptation is one of their biggest stumbling blocks. Humans are often faced with temptations, like the desire for money, power, and/or sex. Other, less destructive temptations are the desire for good-tasting food, feel-good drugs, and/or the desire for fame. God, near the beginning of his creation myth, gives humans a lesson about the power of temptation.

Stay Focused

I have noticed the response of the Church to these “end time” manifestations, and what I have seen and heard has equally surprised and bewildered me. Some Christians are quick to cast the blame for societal deterioration on the political system.

Miracle at St. Sharbel’s in Las Vegas

Do you believe in Miracles in this day and age? I do for sure…

The Road to Damascus (A Sermon on Acts 9:1-20)

“Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (Acts 9:4) It’s the question the risen Jesus asked of Saul (better known to us as ‘Paul’) on that fateful day on that fateful journey on the road to Damascus. “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Jesus asks. “Who are you, Lord”, Paul replies. “I am Jesus who you are persecuting” the voice replies and Paul, it seems, asked no more questions.

Jesus Christ Proclaimed “If I Am Lifted Up From The Earth, Will Draw All To Myself”

Jesus betrayal, arrest, and murder are just over the horizon. As He speaks to some of His close friends He says this: “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” Take a moment to focus on the phrase “draw all peoples to myself.” He didn’t say I will draw a few. He says I “will draw all” to myself. How many is all? Pause and think about it. Is it possible that when it comes to the vastness of the saving work of Christ you have been missing something? With that question in mind, let’s dig a little deeper.

3 Things You Should Never Do When Witnessing

Without even realizing it Christians often lie to others when witnessing. Here are 3 things you should never do when sharing your faith.

What Happened When Jesus Was Crucified?

This article is about the crucifixion of Christ. It shows in detail what happened.

Dreaming and Killing! (A Sermon on Acts 11:1-18)

When I was a young Christian attending an evangelical youth group, we were expected to read our Bible every day, and we were encouraged to read it as if it was a direct message from God to us. I don’t know if that was the advice most others received who attended Christian youth groups, but the idea was that we shouldn’t get bogged down in trying to analyse the text too deeply but simply accept it as a personal message from the Creator, spoken directly to us as individuals.

I Do Not Box As One Punching the Air!

We wish that Christian discipleship was not such a costly exercise but it is! We wish that fighting the good fight was something more like a boxercise class, where we can go through the motions, look good, improve ourselves, and do so at a minimal personal cost, but this is just not possible. The path to glory is soaked with blood.
